Helmine paced the Room of Requirement, thinking, We need a place to practice spells, and a place for someone to teach another. After three paces, the usual huge wooden door appeared from nowhere, and Helmine grasped the bronze doorknob with his small pale hands, turning it in a clock-wise directed, while giving it a push to swing open. As with last year, it formed a huge grey-stone room, with a side chamber holding a rocky terrained areana, where Helmine and Merrisal dueled last year. Old school books were lined and stacked on book shelfs, and there was even a small stone table with enough chairs to fit two people. On the table, there were rolls of parchmant and bottles of quill ink of different colors, and white quills with black spots lined the table. "Wow!" exclaimed Helmine. "Well...Professor Knightly," Helmine said smiling. "What first?"

Merrisal watched as the huge wooden door appeared and she followed Helmine into it. It looked the same as it had the year previously, and the familiarity made Merrisal smile. She thought about it. "I suppose we'll have to start from the first DADA lesson. We learned the stunning spell. Stupefy. Go ahead and try. Just point your wand and me and say 'Stu-pe-fy-.'"

"Wait, hold on!" exclaimed Helmine, getting out the red ink he used last year to write down his Defense Against the Dark Arts noted. "Stu...pe...fy." Muttered Helmine as he wrote it down. "The...stunning...spell." Helmine looked at his newly wrote notes and smiled. He drew his wand. "Umm, Merrisal, don't you think you should give me the countercurse? In case I actually do stun you?"

Merrisal laughed inwardly, she had been going to fast. "Yes, the countercurse is Finite Incantatem." She moved herself in front of him and held her arms out horizontally, as if welcoming the spell. "Now," she smiled, "hit me with your best shot."

Helmine lifted his wand at Merrisal. Thoughts of his mother's killer echoed in his head. An evil laugh echoed, bouncing off the inside walls of his skull. Helmine fell to the ground. His arm hit a bookshelf, and a book fell, laying open in his face. Helmine groaned as he got back up. "Wow, that was wierd..." he commented upon standing up straight. He looked down at the book below, something about the dark master, Lord Voldemort.

Merrisal readied herself to be hit with the stunning spell when, without warning, Helmine toppled to the floor, knocking down a large book on his way. The jacket of the book looked worn and threadbare, and Merrisal couldn't really make out the words on it, her eyes were focused on Helmine anyway. She sprinted over to him and took his hand, pulling him up. "What happened? Are you hurt?"

Helmine looked up at Merrisal. "I don't know.... I saw my mom's face in my mind," Helmine lied. "and then. I just...blacked out." Helmine picked up the book. On the top of the page was, Lord Voldemort and the Wand of Unquenched Vengence. Helmine noted the page number, 142, and closed it, putting it back on the shelf. "Ok, lets try again, shall we?" Helmine chuckled. "I'll go when your ready."

"Just like that?" she asked, but began to speak once more, before he could answer could answer, "I'm a little worried about you, Helmine, you've seemed sort of roughed up ever since you got back. Are you sure you're okay?" Though her features didn't show it, one could hear the slight worry laced in her words towards Helmine. Her eyes trailed towards the book, and a slight look of curiosity crossed her features, it was a book about Voldemort?
Her gaze fell as Helmine placed the book back on the shelf and she nodded curtly, returning to the spot she had been standing at before. "I'm ready," she said, smoothing out her robes and waiting for Helmine's spell.

Helmine bowed his head as Merrisal stated her worry for him. She was catching on. Helmine knew she would disapprove of his plan of revenge, but she didn't understand. Helmine loved his mother dearly. A small voice entered Helmine's head. Is it really worth it? That man will be thrown in Azkaban. You'll wind up destroying all you hold dear, including the girl. Just let go of your hate, you'll regret ever thinking these thoughts. Helmine shook this voice out of his head. Was Tobias right? Was Helmine becoming twisted in his revenge? Helmine didn't know what to do. He wanted to see his mother's killer killed, but he thought of all the sacrifices he would have to give. Helmine took a deep breath and cleared everything from his mind, except learning with Merrisal, The other junk in there would have to wait. Helmine picked up his wand, and pointed it at Merrisal. "I'm ready. Stupefy!" Helmine watched the crimsom red spell burst forth from his wand, and fly across to Merrisal.

Merrisal waited. She decided to make it more dramatic and closed her eyes so she wouldn't know when he cast it, therefore it would be like the element of surprise, just as it would be if he cast it on an opponent. After a few seconds she felt something powerful hit her and knock her over. Her body was completely rigid and she couldn't move, her eyes were even still stuck closed.

Helmine watched as Merrisal closed her eyes. Why is she closing here eyes? Helmine wondered inwardly. He watched as his spell wizzed across the room, lighting up the objects passed a small crimsom red. Inches from her, Helmine braced himself for the impact. The spell hit her in the chest, and she toppled over. Helmine ran over to her and knelt down to her. Helmine knew a perfect stun cast was one that knocked the subject out. She looked knocked out to him. Helmine racked his brain for the countercurse. "Finite Incantatum!" A dazzling flash of white light flew to Merrisal. Helmine stood back, awaiting her return.
((OOC: I thought the countercurse was Ennervate...or Rennervate? Either one.))

((Bouvier said to the class that it was Finite Incantatem, but I think you're right and it's supposed to be Ennervate...))
As the countercurse washed over Merrisal, she opened her eyes and sat up, stretching her legs and arms. "Good job, Helmine, that was very powerful. That was brilliant." She stood up and brushed off her robes, dust on the floor had gotten on them. She twirled a strand of hair around on her finger and thought about what she should have Helmine try next.

Helmine watched with relieve as his countercurse passed over her, and she began to stir. She pushed herself up in a sitting position. "Good job, Helmine, that was very powerful. That was brilliant." she said smiling. As she stood up, Helmine replied. "Thanks. Definatly helpful for an auror eh?" he said smiling. He watched her as she dusted herself off. And watched as she twirled a strand of her chocolate brown hair around her finger. Helmine gazed at her admiringly. He thought about his plot for revenge, and something heavy seemed to drop into his stomach. "Merrisal? Am I turning...bad?" He whispered, more to himself.

Merrisal was quite startled by his question. She moved closer to him and put her hand on his shoulder. "That all depends. Helmine...listen to your heart. What are your intentions? Are they good? Or are they bad? Do they intend help or harm? And even if you do realize that you're headed down the wrong path, you can pull yourself off of it. All it takes is a choice. Your choice. Choices decide who we are. Albus Dumbledore even said that...it is not our abilities that determine who we are, it is our choices."

As Merrisal reeled off all the choices, Helmine's chest got heavier and heavier. "What are your intentions? Are they good or bad?" Bad... Do they intend to help or harm? Harm... Helmine bit back tears. He was almost determined to tell Merrisal his plot. To end it all. Tell Tobias he changed his mind. But images of his mom filled his mind. He didn't know what to do. He was alone, the world all around him.

Her eyes searched Helmine's and she could tell he was having a silent battle internally. She took his hand and squeezed it, leaning in to whisper in his ear, "The Helmine I know will make the right choice. Don't think that anything you've done, said, or even thought about in the past matters. All the matters now is what lies ahead, and what you choose to do with your future. You're the one who determines how it all turns out in the end for yourself. There are consequences for bad choices and actions and rewards for good choices."

Helmine listened to her words. He knew she was right. Helmine took a deep breath. "Merrisal. I'm sorry about my actions. I'm just upset about my mother. I won't do anything I regret." At this point he took her hands. He layed his head against hers. "Thank you, for being there."

Softly, she closed her eyes and nodded, then opening them again. "Helmine. You're not bad. You're just a good person who...bad things have happened to. The world isn't split into good and bad. There's light and dark in each of us. It's which part of yourself that you use to make your choices that makes you who you are." She took his hand and squeezed it, tilting her head to the side a little. She could tell he was having a few internal conflicts that perhaps she might never understand fully.

Helmine Bragner listened to her words. He decided, now was the time. "Merrisal. Please. Don't overreact about what I am going to tell you now." Helmine grabbed both her hands and stepped back. "Merrisal... I'm becoming bad. Over these last few weeks, my intentions were to harm. I wanted to kill...no...destroy the one who killed my mother. Please. Don't be upset with me. Help me, Merrisal." A tear treckled down his cheek. "Bring me to the light; save me from the dark I have allowed in my life."
((Two things. What you said above, now it feels you are going to die now...lol. Two, Helmine is turning from the dark now, but when he comes across the Wand of Unquenched Vengeance, his intentions change, and he obliviates your memory of what he just told you, is that ok?))

((Why would it feel like Merrisal was going to die? 0_o. So....he is going to be bad? Erm, yeah, that's okay.))
What he said next startled her. She listened intently and nodded. "But you've already begun going to the light, Helmine. Just you showing remorse is starting the journey back toward the light. I know that it is hard to forget what that man who killed your mother did, but you mustn't just stoop down to his level and take his own life. In due time, perhaps we may meet up with this man. If he is a criminal, I might be dealing with him later...I am planning on being an Auror, of course, as you already know."
